We’re halfway through the year, which makes it a good time to check in on what’s shipped since our spring roadmap and what’s still on the way.
Here’s what’s live, what’s in testing, and what you can expect next from Proton Mail and Proton Calendar in the coming months.
What we launched in spring
This spring we focused on giving you more control of your calendar and inbox and streamlining everyday tasks.
Manage newsletter subscriptions

Newsletter view lets you eliminate the stress of an overstuffed inbox. You can now view and manage all your email subscriptions in one place with no digging through your inbox required. See everything you’re subscribed to, unsubscribe from what you no longer read, and set up rules to automatically move or mark incoming newsletters. It’s a simple way to cut through inbox clutter and stay in control.
New iOS and Android apps
We’ve started rolling out early versions of our rebuilt mobile apps to alpha testers.
These new apps are faster, more stable, and let you work offline. Feature-wise, they also bring Android to parity with iOS, with support for scheduling messages and more. Thanks to the new architecture, any new features will also be much faster to deliver. We’ll continue testing and refining throughout the summer.
Proton Calendar updates

- You can now reply with notes to event invites in Proton Calendar, perfect for when you’re double-booked or running late. Everyone sees the message, not just the event organizer, and you can do it without switching apps.
- iPad support is live, with improved layout and responsiveness. Support for landscape mode is coming soon.
- Edit access for shared calendars is now available on iOS, making it easier to manage events on the go.
What’s coming this summer
Following popular requests, we’re upgrading your inbox to be cleaner and more powerful.
Category view
Managing a cluttered inbox can be overwhelming, which is why we’re automating the process. Newsletter view was just the beginning. Soon, Category view will take things further, automatically organizing your emails into smart groups — like promotions, updates, newsletters, and more. This means fewer distractions and more control, letting you find what you need faster and focus on the messages that matter most.
Retention policy (for business)
For many businesses, data retention isn’t optional — it’s critical to meet regulatory requirements. This summer, we’re adding custom email retention rules for business admins, so you can define how long emails are kept and stay compliant.
A sneak peek at upcoming features
Some features originally planned for spring and summer will arrive later than expected. Recent releases, like the ability to reply to invites with notes in Calendar, and our focus on revamping our mobile apps forced us to reschedule a few roadmap items to ensure we deliver the best possible experience.
Attachment view
We had hoped to launch the new Attachment view alongside the Newsletters and Category views. Based on our experience with Newsletter view, we realize it will take longer to ensure these features deliver the same polished experience. Newsletter view has received positive feedback, and we want to make sure the Attachment view meets your expectations. This means Category view will arrive in the coming months, and Attachment view will likely come towards the end of this year.
Smaller Calendar widget
We’re currently overhauling our Mail mobile apps, and the first alpha is already live. Once these are running smoothly, we’ll shift focus to the Calendar apps. This is to avoid task switching that slows down overall development velocity.
Create organizations without a custom domain
We believe every business benefits from having its own domain. It helps reinforce your brand identity and makes email communication clearer. To simplify the process of setting up your organization with Proton Mail, we’ll make it easier for you to purchase a domain directly within Proton Mail if you don’t already have one.
Always building with your feedback
Every update we make is shaped by input from you, the Proton community. If you’ve tested something new or have thoughts on what we should build next, we’d love to hear them. Connect with us on X(nouvelle fenêtre), Reddit(nouvelle fenêtre), or UserVoice(nouvelle fenêtre).
Thank you for your feedback and support as we build toward a better, more private internet, where productivity is possible without paying with your privacy.
